This week Kyle and Matthew are joined by the always wonderful Robert Ahn for a chat about the Japanese television series Documental. Robert has been a fan of the work of Hitoshi Matsumoto for many years and Documental has been the first (legal) way for folks in the US to see one of Matsumoto's game shows translated with subtitles. We discuss the madness that is this show. If you are a fan of jackass but wish it had more gambling, the show is worth checking out. That said, if you do not enjoy gross out humor or general weirdness, def proceed with caution but still enjoy the episode cause we got some solid ass tangents.
Weekly Rads: Kyle - Haunted Hayride Covid Edition (halloween attraction)
Matt - The American BBQ Showdown (Netflix show)
Robert - Pulp by Ed Brubaker & Sean Phillips (comic book)

In this supersized episode Kyle and Matt welcome Fifi Dosch to talk about the HBO series The Sopranos. Its a nice mix of gushing like super fans and explaining what it is about the show that puts it consistently in the conversation for the greatest TV show of all time. We have spoiler warnings as the episode progresses so you can jump out as needed but for those willing to brave nearly 4 hours, please enjoy!
Note: Kyle's mic is kinda hot. The volume got turned up on a zoom stand up show and he forgot to turn it back down. It's back down now. Sorry about that.

This week Kyle and Matthew are joined by James D Hillmer for a chat about Korean actor Kang-ho Song. James is currently in a doctoral program studying Korean culture and suggested using Kang-ho Song to explore the world of Korean cinema. In the last few decades, Korean cinema has risen to international prominence. While early breakouts like Oldboy or The Host appealed to genre fans, the 2019 best picture win for Parasite shows just how much impact Korean cinema is having around the world. If you're unfamiliar with Korean cinema or saw Parasite and want to see more, this isn't a bad place to start.

This week Kyle and Matthew are joined by comedian and one third The Goods from the Woods, Carter Glasscock to chat about Starcraft and the general pleasure of 90's/00's PC gaming. Carter is no expert in Starcraft and we will definitely return to the subject in greater detail in an episode down the line but for this week we had a great chat about old school PC gaming in all it's glory. It ultimately becomes a fun chat about video games with some wild tangents as we go. A real thisisrad-ass ep of This is Rad.
